Carafe privacy policy

Last updated August 3, 2026. Carafe is a local-first water tracker. Your water log stays on your device.

Short version

Carafe has no account or backend sync, does not run ads or tracking, and does not collect your water log on a Carafe server. Reminders and the Home Screen widget work locally on your device.

Data stored on device

Carafe stores drinking vessels, water entries, daily target, display preferences, reminder settings, and local app state on your device.

Widget data

Carafe shares a compact water-progress snapshot with its Home Screen widget through an Apple App Group on your device. This data is not sent to the developer.

Reminders

If you turn on reminders and grant notification permission, Carafe schedules notifications locally on your device. Reminders are optional and can be changed or disabled.

Accounts and backend sync

Carafe does not require an account and does not use a backend sync service. Your water entries and vessel data are not sent to a Carafe server.

Health and device data

Carafe does not use HealthKit, location, camera, contacts, or third-party data sharing in the current launch build.

Purchases

The complete water tracker is free. Carafe Plus is an optional one-time App Store purchase that unlocks four crafted appearances; it is not a subscription. Purchase and restoration are handled through Apple StoreKit.

Analytics, ads, and tracking

Carafe does not include developer analytics, advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, or social sharing.
