Portion support

Practical help with meal logging, decision-time recall, corrections, finish reminders, and local data.

Where is my Portion history stored?

Portion stores food names, meal records, notes, drafts, and reminder preferences locally on your device. There is no Portion account, server, or cloud-sync service.

How do I record a meal after eating?

Choose Log a meal, then enter the food, what was ordered or served, what you ate, and whether that amount felt Too little, Just right, or Too much. Appetite context and a short note are optional.

What is Save Before Eating?

Save Before Eating records an order while it is known and leaves it unfinished. You can finish, edit, or abandon it later. A local finish reminder is optional.

How does Portion decide what to recall?

Portion summarizes your own completed history conservatively. It matches food names exactly apart from capitalization, keeps different units separate, and shows when the history is sparse or mixed instead of inventing a precise answer.

Can I correct or delete a record?

Yes. Open a food to edit or delete a meal, rename the food, or delete the food and its history. An unfinished meal can also be edited or abandoned.

How do finish reminders work?

When saving before eating, you can choose no reminder, 30 minutes, or 1 hour. Portion asks for notification permission only when needed and schedules one generic, non-repeating local notification. Denying permission does not undo the saved meal.

Can I export, import, or sync my data?

Not in the current version. Portion has no in-app export, import, account, or cloud-sync flow. Your Apple device-backup settings may include the app’s local data in an Apple-managed backup.

How do I erase all Portion data?

Open Settings and choose Delete local data. This permanently removes all foods, meal records, unfinished drafts, reminder preferences, and Portion reminders from this device.

Does Portion give nutrition or medical advice?

No. Portion remembers how amounts matched your own appetite history. It does not count calories, label foods good or bad, set weight goals, or provide medical or nutrition advice.
