Inkbar privacy policy

How Inkbar handles images, purchases and support requests.

Published October 1, 2026. Applies to Inkbar 1.0, developed by Jeromy Mobley.

Images and analysis

Inkbar analyzes and edits images on your iPhone. Its image-processing code does not send images, recognized text, barcode content or source metadata to a developer-operated analysis server. The app has no Inkbar account, advertising or analytics SDK. Optional purchases use Apple's StoreKit services; saving or sharing uses the destinations you choose.

Local working data

Inkbar saves a working image and editing state so you can recover an interrupted session. This data uses iOS file protection and is excluded from backups. A working session expires 24 hours after its last saved update and is removed when Inkbar next checks for expired data. Closing the app does not delete it immediately. Starting over, discarding a recovered session or replacing the image requests cleanup. Cleanup can fail; the app reports a generic notice and retries through its cleanup paths.

Protected Terms that you enter are stored locally with iOS file protection and backup exclusion. You can remove them in Protected Terms. Recognized text and scan results are not written into the recovery manifest; the working image itself can still contain that information.

The main app and share extension share a local export-allowance ledger. It stores a free-export count, salted identifiers for previously exported edited copies, and technical pending-export records. It does not store image bytes or recognized text. It is excluded from backups and uses iOS file protection after the first device unlock. A local preference also records whether an Apple purchase is pending approval. These stores do not synchronize the free allowance between devices. Reinstalling may reset that allowance.

Outputs and destinations

Inkbar creates a new PNG or JPEG without copying source/private metadata, editable redaction layers or a hidden source image. Required image structure and color information may remain. Temporary checked output files use iOS file protection and backup exclusion and are cleaned up through the workflow, with retries if removal fails.

An image you intentionally save or share is sent to the selected destination. Photos, Files and other apps can keep or synchronize their copies according to their own settings and policies; Inkbar cannot remove those copies. When you use Inkbar's Copy destination, the clipboard item is marked local to the device and given a ten-minute expiry. Apps that read the item can keep their own copy.

Purchases, diagnostics and support

Apple handles purchase authentication and transaction services. Inkbar checks verified purchase information to unlock exports and restore an active purchase. The app's own diagnostic log records fixed lifecycle events rather than images, recognized text, filenames, barcode payloads or source metadata. Apple-managed system services and diagnostics follow Apple's settings and policies.

For privacy or support questions, contact hello@jeromymobley.com. Jeromy Mobley personally handles support requests. Support emails are used only to help with your request. A description of the problem is usually enough; avoid sending private images or personal text.

Support attachments are deleted within 30 days after the request is resolved. Support correspondence is deleted after 12 months. You can request earlier deletion at the same address, except for information required by law to be retained. Email delivery and storage also depend on the email services involved.

The support website is hosted by Vercel and is configured to use Vercel Web Analytics to understand website visits. Website hosting and analytics process website requests separately from Inkbar's image-processing code. Visiting the website does not send your working image to the website. See Vercel's privacy notice and Web Analytics privacy information.

Review before sharing

Suggestions and output checks can miss private information and do not guarantee anonymity. Review the whole exported image, including unselected details and remaining context. Pixelate retains coarse information; opaque Block is the default cover. Inspect transparent PNGs against both light and dark backgrounds.
